Altaf Hussain Chowdhury is a highly experienced journalist, community activist, and social organizer with over three decades of involvement in media and community development. His professional journey spans both Bangladesh and the United Kingdom, where he has played a significant role in representing and amplifying the voices of the British Bangladeshi and South Asian communities.
Altaf Hussain Chowdhury began his journalism career in 1995 in Sylhet, Bangladesh, contributing to leading regional newspapers such as The Daily Sylheter Dak and The Daily Jalalabad. His early work focused on local news, social issues, and community affairs.
After moving to the United Kingdom in 2005, he worked with Channel i as a journalist, covering community activities across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Since 2017, he has been serving as a community correspondent for NTV Europe, reporting on social, cultural, political, and humanitarian issues of the South Asian diaspora.
Alongside journalism, he is actively involved in business, community service, and humanitarian initiatives across the UK and Bangladesh. He has supported various charitable organizations and organized community sports events, including football tournaments, promoting youth engagement and social unity.
Altaf Hussain Chowdhury holds several leadership roles within community organizations and has an academic background in Business and Tourism Management from Anglia Ruskin University, UK.
